Thinking about buying Nikon 24mm f/1.4

What with the advances in today's cameras in terms of ISO capabilities, I think the fast lenses like this are a bit of overkill on wider focal length lenses. I mean who is going to use F1.4 on a landscape shot ? A portrait I can see using a fast lens & even then you have to be careful with the shallow DOF, but on landscapes, I'd want to be stopped down further. Plus a 24mm isn't something I'd use for portraits either. F2.8 is plenty fast enough for me at that focal length.

I had the 24 in my B&H cart a while back, and I got what can only be described as the "putting yips".....it was a lot like the DTs, shaky hands and the sweats, couldn't breathe. I already have it covered nicely with an older and competent 24 f/2.8, and in a few (five!) zooms. I closed the window and headed to the medicine drawer!

Why so serious?
