$2800 for the new Nikon 70-200 2.8E FL ED VR Lens?!

I was just reading about the new Nikon 70-200 2.8E FL ED VR Lens that is selling for $2800?

Why so much?  This seems so much more than the VRII version and correct me if I'm wrong.  There isn't THAT much difference.

Yeah, too pricey for me. I'll mention here the newer AF-S 300 f/4 VR. They added a lot of price for a lens with added VR, that I shoot 100% of the time on a tripod...and they also dropped the mounting foot that was featured on the older model....No thank you, Nikon!

Why so serious?

I have the older AF 300mm F4 (has a foot) but I don't like it as much as my older MF 300mm F4.5 EDIF. That one is smaller & weighs less (much sharper too)

If they didn't fix the focus breathing the upgrade will be pointless.

Yeah, i'm interested to see reviews.  The current one is already crazy sharp as it is.
