Nikon d300s vs Nikon d90

I'm looking at a couple used Nikon's for a camera I'll be using for time lapse.  If you had to pick between a nikon d300s or a nikon d90, which would you pick up?

D90 is newer, but i'd opt for the D300s as I have lots of older manual focus lenses. The D300s will meter with them in manual or aperture priority modes, the D90 will not. The D300s was, at one time, the flagship DX format Nikon DSLR (I own the D300, it's forerunner). It's more of a "Pro" style camera, not that the D90 is any slouch, as it isn't. My choice is mostly based on lens usability. Many of the better older MF glass can be had at much less cost than a lot of the newer glass in the same focal lengths & for most people the results are top notch as these older lenses were, for the most part, computer designed as well and were sold as "Pro" lenses (mine are anyway)

Update/correction: The D90 is a year newer than the D300, but a year older than the D300s....

The D500 was the replacement for the D300s right?

That is correct. They skipped the D400 name...

Its more a hybrid. The D300(s) was the last "pro" built DX camera from Nikon. The D500 resembles the D7200 much more. I used a D300 and D700, the menus and button layouts were near identical, not so with the newer D500....

My D7100 has my macro setup, my D610 has a medium range zoom & my  Oly mirrorless has a standard zoom as well for my snapshot shots....

I might be using my D7100 more than my D800 lately. Did a few landscapes with it recently and the crop camera holds up well....I use my macro lenses on either camera....

That D7100 is a bit lighter to lug around than the D800 I suspect.  On a long hiking trip that is something not to discount.

The D7100 is certainly lighter, but the real weight savings is from the full frame lenses the D800 uses. The 24-70 f/2.8 for example is a great lens, but a heavy beast. Same with 14-24 f/2.8 and maybe 70-200 f/2.8....
