Haven't seen Tamron come out with anything new like this in some time.  What do you think?  I'm on the fence and would need to read some reviews.

I previously answered this via my iPhone, but it hasn't shown up. My answer would be no, the focal length range is too great for the lns to deliver at all focal lengths & I really don't like variable focal length lenses.

I'd be curious how sharp that lens would be at both ends of it's focal range.

No. If you want a good walk-around travel lens, get the Nikon 18-200 (or perhaps their 18-300), which can be had used for a good price.

Eh, not really.  There are other lenses I would rather get first

The Tamron 150-500 is better reviewed, and the Sigma 150-600 is even more favored. These are best suited for tripod use, btw.
You failed to mention why you want a super zoom lens.....

Honestly, I'm not overly impressed with this lens.  Sorry Tamron

Last year I bought one of those Tamron 18-270mm lenses and didn't care for it.  Returned it.  Just didn't seem as well built and the lens for me, didn't have a good feeling to it.

I must agree with an above recommendation of a Nikon 18-300, the reviews are pretty darn good....I'm considering one because I'm getting old, weak and lazy.....:(

You better check the reviews, you'd probably be better off with the Nikon 18-300....

Not yet, I'm looking at the sigma long zooms now.  Seems like there are better reviews on these.

Not to mention more options and better apertures.

How do you feel about Sigma glass?

I believe that it is no longer possible to state, "<Manufacturer XYZ> can't produce a good product." I think it's necessary to weigh each offering individually. Sigma has improved and now offers some very good products. But you can't look at their entire product line with a "yes or no?" attitude.
