Nikon 200mm-400mm f4G IF-ED AF-S VR Nikkor Lens

Crazy deal on this lens on Adorama.  They disclose the autofocus doesn't work on it.  So might want to see what that would cost to repair.  It's a $6400 lens.

Just sharing a good deal:  www.adorama.com/us%20%20%20%20912858.htm...fEAYYBCABEgJYIfD_BwE

The have it priced I'm sure knowing how much it would cost to repair.  Autofocus repairs to that lens I'm sure would cost big $$$

Since it is an older lens, Nikon may not even have the parts to repair it. I know they don't on the 80-200 AFS Nikkor. Best to call and find out beforehand...

I'd but a couple 200-500s before that one in good shape....

Why so serious?

Seriously? Don't bother. Go get the 200-500 f/5.6. Yes, it's a stop slower, but you'll generally be outside anyways. It's a very nice lens. Here's a shot from today at a zoo.

Yup, like I said..and for much less money. With today's modern bodies that can be pushed to high ISOs, the 200-500 is a no brainer....

It´s a risk without knowing what else is wrong with it. That model has a reputation for being soft on the long end. It´s been superceded by the new F:4 180-400mm with built in 1.4 TC, but at almost twice the price! The 200-500mm if you can hold of a good sharp copy is the best option here.
Look up Mark Smith on Youtube he is a very well known Florida wildlife photographer and uses the 200-500mm most of the time.

You would really want to check with Nikon first on that repair cost.  You never know, that could be very pricey to fix.

The only problem is Nikon would not estimate a repair cost without seeing the lens.
