Nikon D810 only shooting 3 minute videos?

5 years 2 months ago #631030 by Cara Wilkins
Morning.  I'm not sure what I've done here.  However my D810 is only shooting 3 minute videos now.  It's supposed to be 30 minutes right?

What is going on here?

What speed/size/quality of cards do you have in it?

As is so often the case, it depends.

Page 62 in your manual. Maximum length depends upon recording mode.

That said, 3 minutes is too short unless there's no room on your card. You don't state if you're starting out by formatting your memory card, nor what size the card is.

A 10 minute 60fps HD video will require about 2GB. Same for 20 minutes at 30fps.

Check your memory card space, you might have to much space taken up from photos. To free up space, you can move extra files to your computer. Hope this helps!

Wait, doesn't it throttle the length you can record when you have your video set to 120?

120 what?

Frames per second? The D810 doesn't record video at 120fps.

Limits are usually not related to frame rate, but actual time. But that would depend upon the device, the manufacturer, and the licensing of the codec. There's not going to be one answer.
