Hi,

I am looking to buy Nikon D80 which is 10 MP SLR digital camera. Do you recommend this camera as a low budget starter one?

Thanks in advance.

I would go with a D200, D300 or maybe a D7000 if you want to keep the budget real low. I used a D200 for years and it's an excellent camera. The build quality is superior to the D80 in my opinion. If your heart is set on the D80, I'm sure it will produce nice images just understand that older cameras have some limitations compared to newer cameras.

Sure, if you plan to stay on DX, it is very capable.

Light is free… capturing it is not!

G'day Aala

Also - much will depend upon what - if any- lenses come with the D80 ~ it might make it a 'good buy'. Therefore it could make the D80 become a good standby camera in a year or two when you upgrade to a better camera body, now having more experience than you do today

the d80 is a decent camera, before buying though check out the prices of the D200, this is a more sturdy camera and now being sold cheaply due to the launch of the D300. Wayne
