Trick to avoid dust during lens changes on Nikon Z6 and Z7 cameras

Is this guy on crack?

Such bad advise!

… most unpractical way to do it, crack or not.

The curtain is always closed on reflex and, even with
the best care, bunnies will show up at times.

Makes sense to expose the most vulnerable piece of the camera just to protect the sensor from dust bunnies. I don't think people realize the piece you see inside of the camera is not actually the face of the sensor. They are covered by glass and filter layers. You can clean glass fairly easily and fairly cheaply. Shutter blades are fragile and not even made out of metal anymore. Dust is more harmful to the shutter mech than the glass cover on the sensor. :toocrazy:

What?  Bad advice, you'll likely do harm to the camera that way.  Just use a blower.

Or, if you're going to change lenses, do it fairly fast and learn to clean the sensor....

Why so serious?

G'day all

What an extraordinary method of swapping lenses - and one that I cannot see many people [anyone?] using in real life use

I have just experimented with my Panny G-series mirrorless and it does not do anything like this ... and I think I prefer the Panny way.  When changing a lens, I will continue to shield the open camera to avoid excessive airborne dust entering the camera and just get on with taking my photos

I tried to constantly keep the opening facing the ground
during replacement, it helps.

The only body I have that is not affected is mounted
permanently on my longest lens.

I've changed lenses using a few methods, in a bag, facing down, etc. and still need to clean the sensor at times.
Learn to do that and stop sweating swapping out glass, just try to minimize the goobers.

Why so serious?

Yep, not exactly how I would swap out lenses either.
