Out of all of these 70-200mm lenses, which would you say was the best?

AF-S NIKKOR 70-200mm f/2.8G ED VR II
Sigma 70-200mm f/2.8 DG OS HSM Sports Lens
AF-S NIKKOR 70-200mm f/2.8E FL ED VR
Tamron SP 70-200mm f/2.8 Di VC USD G2 Lens
Nikon AF-S 70-200mm f/2.8 IF-ED VR

Define "best"? Edge-to-edge sharpness, sharpness throughout the focal length range, AF performance, what?

The Sigma is soft wide open. That made it a no-go for me.
The Tamron is reasonably sharp, but the Nikon VRII beats it.

The f/2.8E is a demonstrably sharper lens all the way around. There's a reason for it's price point, and it justifies it. It's AF performance and consistency throughout are also superior.

That said, I'm happy with my VRII at this time. They can be had used for a very reasonable price.

The best one is the one in your camera bag.

I don't care much about VR — I never use it —  but
I do care about the IF and the ƒ2.8 and all the other
features of the Nikkor pro range.

A primarily hand holding shooter would probably favor VR.

I've own the VR II and FL and I've tested the G2.   The FL blows the VRII out of the water.  The G2 is a little behind the FL but is a third party lens (for better or worse).   The reason I went with the FL is because I use TCs a little and only having to carry around a TC that fits my 70-200, 300, and 500 was nice.   That being said, the G2 is still a fantastic lens, you just might have to microadjust it more and some other things.  I looooooove my FL though.  Holy cow, that thing spanks the VR II.

Um, no one mentioned Canon. Therefore, irrelevant.
