OK, this is very slick, use Canon EF glass on your Z mount Nikons.

I'd just use Nikon glass, but it could influence those with canon lenses already I guess.

Why so serious?

Am I missing something here?  The amount of light that the  Z cameras mount is set up for is huge.  The older mounts like the Canon EF mount are small, won't this impact the image quality taken with the camera?

If you've ever looked into cross-pollination of lenses and bodies, you know that the problem has always been one of geometry. Canon lenses need to be closer to the sensor than the F mount would ever allow.

The Z mount, however, rectifies that limitation. So the geometry can be correct. And the smaller Canon lens is no different than a Nikon F mount lens, is it? You have an f-stop limitation, but as long as the opening allows for the same or more light, then the lens is going to work.

None of this has a thing to do with the quality of the rendered image. That's a function of the optics.

Did Canon just announce that they are no longer making EF lenses too?   But Gary makes a good point (one that I didn't know for the record).
