Autofocus problem with Nikon D850

3 years 7 months ago #694626 by [email protected]
I've been using my D850 for just under 2 years now and never had any issue. Suddenly today, I noticed that the autofocus is no longer working. Tried a couple of different lenses without any luck.

The camera still focuses correctly in manual mode but not in autofocus.

Is there a know issue on this?

Thanks

I've been using that body to for 2y.+ and had no issue yet.

One simple thing to check is that the "Lock" is not on! :)

I've checked every setting and they all seem to be the same as before the problem started.

Same here, not an issue with it.  Did you try above.  Do you have back button focus set up on it?

Yes I did verify all the settings, even set the camera back to factory settings but nothing worked. I have been using back button focus ever since I got the camera 2 years ago so I am familiar with it.

Have sent the camera to Nikon to have a look at it.

Thanks for following this up.

Same thing here… and been pressing that button madly
since 40+ years but, some days, things still puzzle me.

You know, those days I suspect my morning coffee was
not strong enough! :P :P :P

It seems like an internal camera issue. That is the right decision to send it to Nikon for repair.

What button do you use to focus?

Have you had this issue fixed by nikon, do you have any background why this happens and how to fix it...
Thx

In any case, the very first step is to clean the body to lens contacts.
