Dual Nikon D800 files names

I may be picking up another D800.  I'm curious, seeing that both are the same camera, what do you do regarding duplicate file names?

Hey Tom!

I have two D850's. In the camera menu, one may set a prefix
to the folder with the shots. 851_ and 852_ were my choices.

When I archive the keepers, there is a 1 or a 2 at a given po-
sition that identifies the body. Never a problem was seen! :)

ADDENDUM

Look at my posts. For quick reference, the watermark shows
the body used as S, X, E, 1, 2, or 5 close to the extension.

You need to off the sequential file numbering OFF. When it is off, the current folder and file numbers are not continued for every new card inserted. Thus the file numbering starts afresh in a new folder. However, when it is on, the camera can continue numbering files in the previous sequence.

Sorry Naheed, this strategy will not avoid conflicting names.

Did you get it Tom?
How are you preventing naming conflict?

I have found the solution mentioned above somewhere in another
forum, but I am sad that it is not working. If you find any other
solution for duplicate filenames, please let us know.

I also found this in the case where the camera has cycled through the available numbers. Just change the prefix.

Shoot, learn and share. It will make you a better photographer.

Right John,
.
A cycle being limited to 9999, adding a letter as prefix that
will change at every cycle can produce a conflict-less series
of 260,000 items.
