Shadow using camera flash - Nikon 750

3 years 4 months ago #700252 by Nickon750ND
When using the pop up flash on my Nikon 750 I have noticed a shadow appearing in the lower center of the photo.  It is there no matter how far I am from my subject.  I have attached an example.  Note the shadow in the lower center of the photo.  I am shooting in manual and raw.

Any information would be helpful,

Nick

What lens are using here?  Regardless, that shadow you are seeing is from the lens you have on.  Try removing the lens hood, if you still see shadows, you'll need to get an off camera flash that stands higher off the camera.

The stock flashes are sto restrictive on these cameras.

What lens were you using ? It’s likely that the shadow is due to the lens blocking the flash

:agree: flash is hitting the lens, causing a shadow in all your shots.

Yep… the popup flash it is. You could remove the lens shade
to help a bit but a hotshoe flash would be the better solution.

Light is free… capturing it is not!

The shadow in the lower part of the picture is due to the lens hood,
which blocks part of the flash beam. If you take various shots (with
the lens hood off) and vary the focal length, you should see a shadow variation.

Thank you for your comment. I know stock flash are not the best, but they are so convenient. Guess I'll have to find my old off camera flash, which is probably so outdated or just break down a buy a new one.

Thank you Naheed. I need to put my thinking cap on. The camera flash is so easy and quick, but guess I'll either have to find my old shoe flash or buy a new one.

A hot shoe flash will have a greater output and
extend your possibilities in any case. Go for it! :P

Yes, it would be best if you can find your old shoe flash
or you get a new one. It will give you good output
and will help you a lot. I hope it will help you out.
