Tamron Zoom Telephoto AF 70-300mm f/4-5.6

This lens is on sale on  B&H for $159.  I have to admin, I'm tempted because of the price and the 300mm you get.  Which I assume will be at f/5.6.   But still during daylight, that isn't bad.  So what's the catch with this lens?

I'll be putting on my D7500.

:thx2:

Zooms, especially consumer-grade ones, tend to be soft at the extremes of their range. That said, IQ perception is a matter of individual taste. I've read where the older 75-300 is sharper...

Having a 300mm even if not great is better than not having one at all. May be able to find it cheaper used. If not, go for it.

I know it may come to a matter of budget and/or purpose but I
tend to stay away from variable aperture and non IF lenses.

Light is free… capturing it is not!

Tamron Zoom Telephoto AF 70-300mm f/4-5.6 build quality seems to be better
than its price point and the image quality is also pretty decent. The lens is also
very light so it's great to travel with. So, I will suggest going for it.
