Panasonic GH4 for first time "professional camera"?

9 years 7 months ago #400317 by TGonzo
I posted in another section hear about how I'm looking to buy my first major camera.  I only have a point and shoot Sony right now.   Last week a friend sent me a link to an interview from this site where they were talking about the Panasonic gh4 camera.  Prior to this I was looking at some mirrorless cameras - Sony, Fuji and Olympus.  Whats funny is I didn't know Panasonic made cameras.  I know they make good TV's because my parents own one!

What I want to know is if this GH4 is good for someone just starting out?

These guys use the GH3. They may have a GH4 now.  Check out Will Crockett and Marc Hauser on youtube.

The main strength of the GH4 is video.  Still images with the GH4 will be fine, but for M4/3 I would prefer an Olympus OM-D model for still photography.  And from what I have seen on various sites, so would most other M4/3 fans.  Unless you (or your friend) just have a "thing" for the Leitz lens label.  Olympus lenses are quite good.

Right.  For video, the GH4 is pretty well the top choice right now.  Video is not a big deal for everybody.
