Panasonic TZ110 broken hardware - repairable? Cost?

2 months 3 weeks ago #667890 by willfanning
My camera fell off a bus hand-luggage rail the other day whilst travelling in France. It was in its case but unfortunately still suffered damage to the hardware on the underside of the lens. It still works, but I am sure this is not good for the longevity of the camera. Also, from time to time, when I turn it on, a "system error (zoom)" appears - I think has got to do with the state of the lens, so after giving it a good clean, it seems to go away. Does anyone know if this type of damage is repairable? If so, how much would it cost? The warranty does not cover it unfortunately. I have had the camera for 3 years.

Doesn't look like that specific model is available in the US, but comparable models appear to run $450 or more. Warranties don't usually cover drops and falls (although you can buy a policy that does).

You should probably just buy a new camera. A repair could easily eat up half that amount.
