Some people confuse porn with erotism

So this might be a delicate issue...

But erotica is a visual trend.

What do you think about this?

This is a sample from Gregorio, Gregoriophotography on Instagram:

Hey I agree! Nice picture you posted. Would not even consider this as "porn". Erotism can and should be classy. Revealing yes , some a little all the way down to full blown nudity but done tastefully . The photographer Mapplethorpe received a LOT of flack for his work and yes some of his work is a bit over the top. It's still erotism. Keep shooting!

A "trend"? Sex always sells; that's a maxim. Unfortunately, some people seem to think that any allusion to our sexuality is bad, and should be repressed. <rolling eyes emoticon>

While that's a nice shot, I don't think you shouldn't be posting someone else's material. Here, or anywhere. A link, yes, but not a copy.... unless you got permission from the photographer?

I agree with Gary.

Ethically he should have linked to the image. Legally it is OK as long as he doesn't profit from it.

A common misconception, but hardly comprehensive.

As for Fair Use, this instance is intended to be "editorial", I think. The problem is that the poster isn't commenting on the image itself, but rather using it for illustration. Editorial fair use has to do with the material itself. So, yes, linking to it would have been preferable (as an illustration), but in this context, no, it's not okay to post a copy here.

I don't believe that it's okay to take somebody else's work and do what whatever you want with it, without careful consideration of the law (at least in the USA).

I agree with the above. I've seen a few of my photos taken and used and I NEVER ask if they are making money with them, always ask they take it down, and next time get permission. (With one exception).....

Why so serious?

So that's how it works. I will keep that in mind.
