Meet my Daughter, S

Here's is my mini me- in attitude and looks. She just turned 5 and I wanted to get a natural shot of her. She kept trying to smile and it looked so cheesey, finally caught a real smile talking about her cousin.

decided to play with some adjustment layers. Did a levels and a exposure. Also some burning on her limbs.

tried another levels layer and dodged her eyes.

Both images:1/200, f 16, iso 200, Canon 28-135 lens

Beautiful little one you have! Love both shots...trying to figure out if I like one more than the other...can't decide! Kids can be so hard to shoot... A friend of mine is a full time child/family photographer...I don't know how he does it! :)

Lovely photos, I also like both, maybe slightly prefer the more candid 2nd one, but nice captures.

They are both cute. I see you shot at f16, which makes everything sharp, have you thought of shooting at around 5.6 to blur some of the background? Sorry, you didn't ask for a critique though.

Jan, Critiques are always welcome! I have been worrying about my DOF so I am trying to shoot higher F-stops. I can try again with a shallower one. Thanks!

You are welcome, I was just thinking the face is more what you wanted to focus on and the sharpness of the background with the flowers and the other one where the shirt so totally sharp takes away from her cute face. I have a hard time myself with practicing different f stops.
