I'm guessing you are talking about the collar's with antennas on then. Those are GPS tracking collars to find the dog should it become lost. if your talking about the bright red and yellow collars, they are to identify the dog. Top dog gets one color and bottom dog another. If I remember right, red is always top dog. Top dog is determined by where the name appears in the brace sheet.

I don't know if Janet clips that Gordon or not. I have seen them in the past that don't always have the long show coats. If she does clip them, it's to avoid the tangles that can come it the field with a show coat. A young lady I know of on a bird dog site has Irish Setters she shows and hunts. Really long heavy coat. I asked her one time what she does if it get's full of burs. she wrote back that that has happen a bunch and it take a least four hours to get them out. Once her show championship is finished, she's going to keep the dog shaved.

My English Setter's don't grow that long show coat but if not clipped still get lots of burrs, I keep them clipped. Guy I knew in Alaska had Gordon's and they had coats like the dog on here. They came from the "Springset" line and are used mostly for hunting.

Well, I haven't shot that many dogs - but here's one. An old whippet that my daughter took care of.

This is Leo, who went to the Rainbow Bridge way too young.
The second photo is Leo, with my mother, who has Alzheimer's and has mobility problems.  He was always very careful and gentle around her.
