MyPhotoSchool Photography Contest Winner!

11 years 6 months ago - 11 years 6 months ago #248416 by PhotographyTalk
We have been extremely impressed with all the photographs entered in this contest. It was incredibly difficult to pick a winner because the standard was so high. Because of this, we have decided to publicly commend many of the photographs listed below and also give a critique for those photographers we were particularly impressed by. In addition we think that the standard has been so exceptional, that we would like to offer all entries a prize of 50% off a MyPhotoSchool online photography course of their choice (that’s $115). The winner receives a full MyPhotoSchool online photography course of their choice (worth $230). PM "MyPhotoSchool" here to coordinate getting your prize or additional questions.

So we are delighted to announce that the winner of a MyPhotoSchool online photography course is Stephen Marshall with his photograph ‘Blue Angels’:
This photograph stood out for its simplicity. The photographer has captured stunning light, and an unusual composition. The stormy background, sets off the side-lit smoke trail beautifully - creating a unique and striking photograph.

Highly Commended: Cynthia Clayton has brought us pin sharp focus on a small fast moving object which is incredibly difficult capture. The stunning reflection and incandescent shades of blue make it an award winning photograph

Neal Alan Sacheck has given us a high quality compelling black and white image - treated with great sensitivity, this smoking rifle is the most compelling. Great DOF, interesting draws you in to the subject with great drama

We liked Angel Dias’s - photo of the dancers behind bars for its quirky and unusual composition

We would also like to highly commend - Mike Shields, Series of Landscapes and Flower Photography - of a very high standard. The macro shot featured left we found particularly stunning with great use of Depth of Field and sensitive colours.

Mike Barwood's portrait of a girl dreaming was beautifully light with excellent depth of field

Barry McBeth’s photo of a Camasia was also striking. A beautiful light, superb DOF and lovely bokeh

James Kelly – we felt these portraits were particularly sensitive - we particularly like the dancers

Svana Sig – Svana’s landscapes demonstrate a good use of foreground, mid and distance proportions to draw you into the photography.

Mike Caine has given us this beautiful photo of a dragonfly. The DOF is spot on - with a wonderful background of soft green foliage
