I have a Canon. My parents bought me one when I was a kid, so it's just something I continue to have.

A couple weeks ago, I became "friends" on facebook with a guy who lives in my area. He has a Canon. He tried his hardest to get me to switch. He even went as far to tell me there are adaptors that I can buy to use my lenses on the Canon. So I wouldn't have to buy all new lenses.

You lose metering and AF on them though :)

Crystal there are so many numpty's out there that do that, I have met several, there are so many Camera makers out there and I do believe it comes down to what suits you personaly, and of course unfortunately budget always has its influence, I wud never try to persuade anyone to change to my brand just cos I think its the best.

Because Canon can't put good AF in a FF camera that doesn't cost enough to buy a nice car...

Somebody must have known this would start a new Civil War. Some folks in these parts haven't gotten over the last one.

Once you get started with one brand and have a few lenses, it takes a mound of money to change.

At our local Camera club (over 120 active members), the split of about 45% Nikon, 45% Canon, and a smattering of Sony, Olympus and others. When new members are introduced and say what they shoot, a cheer goes up from half the crowd but in the end, we all work and play together and have fun and learn.
It does seem like the "Big Two" kind of leapfrog each other with technology so you will always be one step behind no matter which you choose.

Besides, its the eye and vision behind the camera that makes the difference.

Shoot, learn and share. It will make you a better photographer.

So long as it's all in fun, it doesn't matter.

I actually quite like Canon in many ways, it;s just not for me. However i have no problem suggesting people get a Canon 550D or whatever if I think it's the better camera for them. It's just a box that captures like afterall. ;)
