Keep as a back up or turn into infrared camera?
As far as a spare, why worry. If something happens to your main camera, you won't die while its being repaired or replaced, now will you? If IR is what you want to do, get it done......

Why aren`t you using it,I use both Ir and visible cameras at the same time shooting wildlife and floral
without any problems,I only shoot Ir landscapes.
