Keep as a back up or turn into infrared camera?

12 years 6 months ago #151453 by mj~shutterbugg
What would you do- would you keep a 10D (that is in great condition) as a back up to a 5dmii OR would you pay to convert it to a infrared camera?

I am really wanting to try infrared and feel it would produce some interesting results with my favored subjects, but I worry about what I would do if my 5d all of a sudden started going haywire. Advice and opinions please!

I had my D70s converted a couple years ago and it works great, but I hardly use it.
As far as a spare, why worry. If something happens to your main camera, you won't die while its being repaired or replaced, now will you? If IR is what you want to do, get it done......:)

Why so serious?

I'd say it depends on how important having a back-up is. I waited until my old 20D was my back-up, back-up, back-up before having it converted for IR. I'm glad I did it, but like Effron, I really don't use it very often.

I had Lifepixel convert mine, and I think it cost $350, so if they are having a special for $250 that sounds like a great deal.

Thanks, now could someone actually answer my question..those who shoot infrared do you shoot often? Often enough to make it worth while to change the camera.

Oh and what's the harm in posting some images here in this thread?

It`s called 'thread crapping' which isn`t nice,I won`t go there. It depends on 'you' that`s why MJ
is asking for the question,2 out 3 don`t use it often but I do.Your question was answered even before you asked it.
