Putting anything online and you risk this.

If you're afraid of it being "stolen" then either watermark it to death or don't put it online.

Like geoffellis said, if you put it online, someone can take it.

nope, screenshots are low quality. the actual image file being displayed can be accessed.

Yeh it's pretty simple most of the time.

But (I think) what scotty was getting at is the other times when it's not so simple. You can at least screen capture it.

It's not about knowing or being afraid of someone stealing their images. It's simply about a site allowing it. Allowing a download is completely different, then not allowing it and someone stealing it.

Unfortunately at the end of the day if someone wants something that bad, there is nothing to stop them from getting it

I set the settings to download by me only and asked Kazturbogirlie to try so she did and still succeeded downloading one of my images, so she changed her settings and I still successfully downloaded one of her images, we both reported the problem and havent heared anything since, this must have been 6 weeks ago at least, this is one thing that really annoys me about PT that you can report a problem and hear nothing, not even an acknowledgment of recieving the complaint ???

Thank you,
I would also post that it is about respect for another's art work especially in a forum for photogrpahers.

I know how to "steal" someone's pics too, especially from a mac but that was not the point in my post.

Fair enough it's about respect etc.

Still don't put them online without watermarks if you're concerned about people stealing them. That's like leaving your front door open because people shouldn't walk in and steal your TV.

they are using flash. a tad more trickier, however the flash file can be downloaded directly or copied from the browsers cache. unless adobe has added encryption since the last time ive done this (albeit a few years ago) all it requires is using a flash decompiler to access all the resources, including sounds and images compiled to make the flash application. there are also tools made specifically to do this

frankly I only have access to a 3G cellular connection... it isnt bad however i dont particularily want to download unnecessary stuff like flash decompilers and large flash files simply to prove a point... too expensive. but it is possible regardless whether or not you believe me lol. im sure you can even find step by step instructions through google if you want to try it yourself.

I tried it on his site. You can get the pics up to a certain size but you can't access the full sized ones without permission. I didn't use your method though. Still I doubt you can get the full sized pics.

Go ahead and try it would be fun to know.

I noticed if I was on the PT page on Facebook (and I wasn't logged in to either FB or PT) that it looked like that's where photos being posted could be getting compromised. I let one of the mods know, I think they're working on it.
