Question about licensing a photo to a web site?

I don't have a lot of experiencing selling to this sort of client, actually I've never sold my photos to a website to be used on their site like this. I have a website that contacted me and wants to use some of my photos for periods of 6 months at a time.

From what I've been able to dig up about this sort of transaction, photographers license photos based on size of image and time. This client has also indicated that they may need 12 month rate as well as life time rate.

I could really use some help on the pricing with this.

For example purpose let's say the image was 500 x 500. How much would you charge for a:

1. 3 Month license of image
2. 6 Month license of image
3. 12 Month license of image
4. Life time license of the image

Thanks so much for your help!

What you need is fotoquote www.cradocfotosoftware.com/fotoQuote-Pro/

It's software that will tell you the going rate for images for being on a site for 1 month or being on a billboard up to 6months to a year.

Thanks for posting this. Very interesting, have you used this yourself?

No, I have never used it, but Photoshelter.com has it part of their membership so that members can use the software to help determine prices to sell their photos. So I figure since photoshelter which is a site to sell stock photo (which in theory is your situation) uses a software like this, it must be a good software to use. :)
