Overused terms used by people in photography industry?

12 years 3 weeks ago #213481 by Jeanne Merlo
I was at a photography store today and heard a couple words that I think are just used to death over and over. The rep kept referencing the "mega pixel" this and "mega pixel" that. Then kept referring to the camera's as "professional cameras".

While venting on over used terms, I can't stand when I hear "say cheese" :owned:

oh and "I want my photos to POP"

Let's hear what you have to add to most over used words/phrases.

Bokeh - I told my wife while eating lunch at a Photowalk event that if she wanted to fit right in (she is a non photographer) just drop the word bokeh... I did this in a theatrical voice so the comment was overheard by all. The entire table came alive...

Nevermind - I'm not done with using that word myself. :woohoo:

crop factor

Photographers had no problem keeping track of various formats for 150+ years before that term became popular.

post processing

Processing steps have always occurred after the exposure, and in a sequence. There has always been some processing that occurred after other processing. Why all of a sudden do we need a different term that implies it's somehow different than regular processing? If it means processing that occurs after the initial processing, for instance when shooting jpegs the photo is processed in the camera, and then post processed on a computer, does that mean since I shoot raw, and only process once I don't do post processing? It's all just processing! Some occurs after other steps. Some occurs before other steps. Is that pre processing?
