Real estate photography

I currently shoot portraits, but I was thinking of maybe also shooting real estate. Does anybody shoot real estate photography? Any advice?

I have seen a lot of Realtors shooting their own with P&S cameras. It could be a business niche.

Shoot, learn and share. It will make you a better photographer.

I got my first DSLR as a tax write off during a brief stint in real estate before moving to Costa Rica. Shooting houses for normal residential sale can be a bit of a pain, but you will probably get better results than most agents with their point and shoots. I won't claim to be an expert but here are a few bits of advice:
1) Use a tripod
2) Shoot about waist level for most indoor shots, you will need a wide lens 28mm (equivalent) or wider, keep an eye on your distortion
3) Remove Clutter! What seems normal in a showing looks bad in photos, think soap dispensers, drawings on the fridge, family photos on the mantle
4) Unless you have tons of lighting you will probably have to over expose the windows to capture the interior properly (this is useful I you have a funky view). If you are photoshop proficient you can always bracket a few shots and combine them to get both exposures. I have been known to cut and paste the windows.
5) For exteriors try various angles (have them move any visible cars if possible) and an evenly overcast sky can make for a good diffuse light so you don't get harsh contrast.
6) Be careful what "blemishes" you photoshop out as it could be considered a misrepresentation of the property.

Good Luck
