Does anyone use a flash bracket any longer?

I've just realized after cleaning my photography gear closet that one piece of equipment that I have not touched in a couple years is my flash bracket.

Does anyone still use these?

I do. How do you use your flash when you need to move around, as when photographing a reunion, or some such event?

I use mine so often I wear them out. If I'm going to be doing much on-camera flash photography I'm using a rotating bracket. I might skip it for family snaps, but it gives me more options and makes working easier. I shoot a lot of verticals with people and at events. With the flash on the body I can't bounce right without holding the camera funny. With a rotating bracket I can bounce in any direction. If I have no choice but to use direct flash I also like the extra height and positioning options.

I like the Newton bracket, which is a lot smaller than the brackets I used with my film cameras. With the Newton I hold the camera grip as normal instead of a handle on the bracket. www.newtoncamerabrackets.com/

"It’s a game of inches. Even if I can only get the flash off the camera by a few inches, to the left or right of my camera, I know I improved the quality of my light." -Joe McNally

I have one that I'll use every so often, but that's about it.

Got one and put it to use nearly every weekend.
