I need something for those days when I don't want the big guy with me. What do you carry or use in terms of compact camera?

I carry a Nikon P510. it has a lot of pro features and a focal length range of 24-1000 mm. I've been very happy with the performance of the camera.

I carry around a Canon Powershot G12. I bet now that the G15 is out, the G12 price is pretty nice! It's a nice option if you want to shoot RAW and use the same manual controls you'd use on a DSLR.

Sony NEX-3. Not exactly "pocketable", but the bag with 2 lenses and an external flash is still 1/3rd the size of my smallest DSLR bag.

iPhone.

Ok, here is my thing about point and shoot cameras. Every time I get enough money saved up for a decent P & S (I'm looking at the p510 Rob) I go out an blow it on a lens for my DSLR. I think that it's a sickness. lol.

It is what it is.

Nikon Coolpix P510. It's my ONLY digital camera at the moment. I have a slight issue with the "point & shoot" moniker since I don't "point & shoot." ;)

It has its limitations and I'll be moving on eventually. But I've been happy with what this little camera will do. Every image I've posted to date has been made with the P510. Here's another (right out-of-camera). I'm in the mountains this week and I see this every morning. :)

We don't have a P&S right now, but I've been wanting to get one. B&H has the G12 for $200 off right now.

Nothing. Waiting for the Fuji X-pro2 (probably will come some time next year I guess).

We do own a Canon S95, but the screen broke on the back for some reason and I've not bothered to get it fixed. I'll probably buy my wife a new camera for Christmas to replace that one.

I'm thinking a red Fuji XF1 for her:
