Setting up studio in garage

If you set up a photography studio in your existing garage, are there any special permits needed? There would be no major construction. Is there anything that would prevent one from operating a photography business out of their garage?

Most of the permitting you really will have to find out at your local government ie townships, city, or county. They will be able to tell you what is allowed and not

I am in the same situation, In my township i am only allowed to put up a small sign and there are no other restrictions as to the building since the structure is already up and is zoned residential. I am sure that if I start having a regular number of customers everyday that the neighbors will complain and I would have to move the studio. Just do some research and depending on how many shoots you want to do (a day, week, ...etc).

Good tip, I better check with the city tomorrow

If you have something up already, can they fine you?

At the risk of being repetitve:

It all depends upon your local ordinances, usually at the city/town level, I would think.

You see the story over in England where the guy might have to destroy his house because he built it with out proper permission?

I would really check with your city before you go doing anything, you can get fined possibly.

I read that on the news earlier last week. Such a shame that a beautiful home needs to be pulled down.
