Good reasons to never lend out your camera, even to family!
A deposit to cover damages. 
Now I have 2 40d's and a 7d and she still wants to use my 7D we are on our way to MAui and I gave her the 30d told her not to take it on the beach packed her old Ti with its own lens and said that it was the only one allowed on the beach YEa we will see she has no clue on care at all. Never Never lend gear.
