How to deduct photographs shot for a charity on your tax returns?

If you took photos for a charitable cause, how do you properly deduct these on your taxes? How did you come up with the rate for this?

Thank you

Well if you shot for a 5013C organization, then you request a receipt for what you did. You charge what a normal session rate would be, or if you have an hourly rate you value it for the time. But you need to have a receipt for it, to take it. Now granted you can claim it without a receipts, but if you are audited and do not have one, the results would not be happy. So get them to issue a receipt for the value.

So if your rate is high, can the IRS dictate what you should charge?

There is an easier way, summit a bill for them to pay, than give the money back as a donation, than they give you a charitable receipt.

You will not be judged as a photographer by the pictures you take, but by the pictures you show.

The advice here is pretty good, but what you need to do is seek a tax professional..... ;)

Why so serious?
