"Most photographers use some form of auto exposure the majority of the time"

9 years 4 months ago #413419 by The Man
After a friend and I had a creative debate about "auto" functions.   He just sent me an email today stating that Canon published an article that stated this.  I couldn't find it, and want to find if anyone knows this to be true?

How many of you are using some form of auto exposure in your photography?

Here we go again...

Or: well, if it's on the interweb, it must be true, right?

You will find that the majority of people use Aperture Priority when shooting. That is what I use 85% of the time. I've been in several settings in my 30 some years of shooting where crowds of photographers were asked a show of hands and aperture priority has always been the majority. The next largest segment would be manual. The group after manual is Program mode which is fine since you can shift values.

HA HA HA!!!

I use auto white balance at times.

I also use auto focus at time as well.

Perhaps that is what the article also factors in.  Not just on the immediate thoughts of "Auto" exposure.

Well if they are talking about things like "Auto Focus" then that will cover most photographers

Well using the term most makes this one more plausible. I can partially agree with that, as most people who shoot any from of an image use phones, or P&S cameras.

I'd have to see see the article as this can go either way. It depends on how the term was used.
