Landscape vs portrait orientation for panoramic photos?

Does it make any difference when shooting panoramic photos?

The short answer no it does not. But in portrait you will have to do twice as many shots to get the same pan in LS orientation. Now there are places that may warrant shooting in portrait, but they are the exception.

Well that depends on what you want to have in the frame.  If you want to have a taller image, going portrait orientation will prevent having to layer another set on top possibly.   But then you need to build out horizontally.

Of course it makes a difference.
1. You get more in at the top or bottom.
2. You can zoom in to get the same in as landscape view and get more foreshortening. (Foreground object closer to background object.)
3. You end up with a lot more pixels, which means better quality when printing wallpaper. :)
