Where are all the female photographers?

Voice up girls.  I know photography seems like a predominate male industry.  I know a few locally here.  Would like to see about meeting more.  My best friend who I've known for 15 years is buying her first camera today.  I'm so excited for her, she use to be really big into art with oil paints and chalk.  I think she will do very well with photography.

Wedding and portrait photographer here!  I know 4 other woman photographers here who are part of my Meetup group I attend here.  Your right, the industry is mostly men, but seems like more woman are jumping in.

Um, I joined a Facebook group started during a Kelly Brown class (newborn photography) on CreativeLive, and it now has 10,200 members.

I think there are about 5 men, total, in the group.

Got lots of them locally. Seems many do "People" type photography.... I have periodic macro classes & I think I've only had 2 women come out...

I've been a photographer a long time, have done sports and events (local hockey) so other photographers I've known locally were guys. I've met one other woman photographer doing college hockey. I'm not doing sports these days, have been doing submissions to juried exhibits and had some of my photos accepted and on display.

Women aren't good photographers because photography is about collecting the right gear, not emotions.
