First attempt at major editing. Need feedback please

This was my first real attempt at major editing in photoshop. I merged/blended two seperate photos of mine to come up with this piece. What do you think? Any constructive feedback is appreciated. Thank you.

Any chance of seeing the originals? For me the sand looks soft enough to touch and I like the colors of the sky in the background. What I'm not totally sold on is the horizon that runs smack dab in the center. Perhaps a lower vantage point near the sand, to use this as your 2/3's and the sky for the remaining 1/3 of image.

For your first edit, I'll need to see the before's to make a complete vote ;)

Not bad, you might have gotten away with the composite with the sun put somewhere on the right, as the shadows just aren't right with the fireball dead center......

Why so serious?

I am not a PhotoShop user, yet, so I am not fully qualified to give criticism. What I will say from my personal prospective is, Good Job for a first attempt.

I am not crazy about the half and halfness of the picture. I agree with others put the sun a little to one side. Also there is a circle effect in the sand that keeps catching my eye.

I agree with above RE: nice job and the horizon. In addition, I think I'd make the sand a bit warmer (sunset)

My 2 cents: for first time of doing this, I'd say you nailed it

D300| Nikkor 24-70mm 2.8 | Nikkor 70-200mm VR 2.8 | Nikkor 50mm 1.8 | Nikon 2x Teleconverter | Sigma 105mm 2.8 | Tokina 12-24

For me, my goal when compositing or editing a photo like that, my goal is to make my edit appear to be invisible. To me the trees/buildings along the horizon line don't work with the sand, including the lighting from it as well.
