Goodbye Canon DSLR and hello Sony mirrorless!

Canon Rebel series has done me good during the recent years. I had the opportunity to play around with the Sony A7R at the Sony store over the weekend and I'm beyond sold. I love what I saw, the feel and I'm up for 'change'. The size difference of the camera bodies is crazy. I thought Sony would have a ton of lenses, not the case. But I'm okay with that.

So I'll be listing all my Canon stuff in Craigslist next week, and once all this is sold, I'm going to jump on getting that Sony.

:) Wish me luck!

Good luck! I look forward to seeing what you do with it. I am sure that for most pictures the camera will do great, and the size will be helpful after a long day. For some pictures it won't do as well; for some it will do better. Looking forward to your reports!

Are you getting the new A7R II? I think that's an impressive camera and a good upgrade. The Sony or the Panasonic GH4 would be a nice upgrade to mirrorless.

A friend of mine has this camera and he loves it. I must say, I've used it and it does have some nice controls. I wasn't to excited about the autofocus, I thought that was rather slow. But if you aren't shooting much sports or high speed, then that doesn't matter much.

Are you going to keep any of your Canon glass? You can get one of those Metabones adapters and continue using your Canon glass on the Sony body.

That's a nice upgrade, post some photos after you have had a chance to mess around with the camera. Don't forget to buy extra batteries as those mirrorless cameras chew through them quicker.

This is a big shock for most newbies to mirrorless. They do go through batteries quickly. The EVF and LCD screens deplete batteries.

Looking at sales projections of mirrorless, you aren't alone.  Mirrorless cameras are doing well from what I understand.  It will be interesting to see what happens in next 5 years with camera sales.

If and when they get the focus up to speed for sports and moving objects, it will be a no brainer to go with a lighter system unless you just like to tote heavy stuff around.

Why hasn't Canon or Nikon come to market with a more professional mirrorless camera? you would think they want to tap into Sony's market share before that get's out of control.
