Best rated photography school?

In terms of students getting placement (aka jobs) after attending, which photography school has the best track record?

Any idea on this one?  I have a friend who wants to become a commercial photographer and was asking me about this.  I told her either Halmark or Brooks.  Those are the only two I could think of.

Canon EOS 5D Mark II, 17-40mmL, 24-105mmL, 100-400mmL, 300mm f/4L IS, Sigma 12-24mm, 430EX, Extension tubes

The two you have mentioned are very good, but on different ends of the field.  What area of the country are you looking at?

(2) Canon 7D, Canon 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS, 17-55 f/2.8 IS USM, 50mm f/1.4 USM, 85mm f/1.8 USM, Sigma 70-200mm f/2.8 HSM, Sigma 10-20mm f/4-5.6

My brother did the New York Institute many years ago. Never asked him how it went but he has been a successful portrait and wedding photographer all his life, he's in his mid 60's now.

Huge difference in cost?  Halmart is close to $40k?  NYIP is $1,000?

Whats the catch?

All of these schools are completely different.  You have NYIP which is the least amount, then Brooks, then Hallmark

5D Mark II | 50mm f/1.4 EX | 24-70mm f/2.8L | 70-200mm f/2.8L | 430EX

I'd suggest your friend look into the job market to figure out if this is even a possible career choice. Business/marketing courses might be a better option.

NYIP is adult continuing ed. Students would get a certificate stating courses were taken. Might be OK if someone wants to learn photography (from what I've heard it's changed over the years). I've taken adult continuing ed. courses, they're for personal enrichment, that's why it's not that costly.

Hallmark is PRIVATE, accredited as a CAREER school, licensed in its state as an OCCUPATIONAL school meaning a technical/vocational school. They don't issue college degrees. I don't know how/why this would cost $40 thou.

Brooks, same thing, PRIVATE, run by a CORPORATION that's in business to offer courses. So called 'degrees' issued don't seem valid outside the state.

There are plenty of good technical schools and jobs that require technical training that might be a good option for someone interested in medical or tech fields of work.

If your friend is interested in commercial work try the Photo District News http://www.pdnonline.com since they cover commercial photography.
