Cheap OEM neck straps

Question/Rant:

First off, I get it: Cost

How great would it be to have a high quality Nikon neck strap vs the cheap rip a hole in your should straps these come with?  I like the look of the OEM straps, but man they are brutal when you use for any significant time period.

I replaced mine with Op Tech straps... Still prefer hand straps for most shooting situations. OEM straps with the names emblazoned on them makes the cameras more of a target for thieves...

Well, perhaps it's because not everyone defines "comfortable" the same way. Same for "useful". I certainly prefer a minimal-cost accessory that I'm possibly not going to use, and then go get what I need. Me, I prefer a wrist strap or a bandolier. I gave up on neckstraps when I stopped playing the saxophone.

Sling straps are a lot more comfortable than neck straps. I'll never use another neck strap.

Absolutely, shoulder straps make a world of difference.  Would be cool to have nice straps from camera manufactures.  But then that would knock out some aftermarket sales on straps.

I mask the pain of the OEM strap's I line the bottom of my shoe's with thumb tacks! Actually if I'm not gonna carry a camera very far or long I do sometimes use the OEM strap. But usually I wear the harness I made. strap and harness both hook on with snaps.

Mine are still in the original camera box, never used. OEM straps suck.  Black Rapid and be done with it.

I know if they stock straps were high quality, it would have saved me from buying others.  But that wasn't the case, and a good strap makes a world of difference.

Cheap straps are simply, no good.  Invest into a good strap and it will last for years and save your shoulders.
