I want to print my photo album in a book, need some help

8 years 8 months ago #449283 by Jacob Fisher
So does this make me a photo album rookie?    I've been going through some of my landscape photos and have about 27 that are my favorite and I'd like to make a photo book. But I know of no company that does this sort of printing.  I have gone on Google and of course there are pages upon pages of companies that do this.  Rather than picking any company,  can help me with this? Please, and thanks in advance.

Jacob

Have you checked with someone like Costco or Sam's Club.  For some reason I thought I saw this done when I was checking on enlargements.  Also I think I saw something like this at Staples.

In general, do not use Sam's or Costco. For a number of reasons.

It's not clear what you're looking for, but you might consider the lay-flat press books from Miller's Lab. A double-page layout and press printing. Can't go wrong. Miller's is great.

However, you don't indicate what you're looking for, so I can only suggest based on some assumptions.

If you have Lightroom, you can do a book and it will send it to the publisher for you and estimate the cost. I don't recall which publisher it uses without looking it up.

Blurb. I just checked to be sure. The sizes offered are limited. However....

I saw a book from them at a tattoo expo, showing off the artists' work. It was very nice and had wonderful (matte) paper.

Thanks, Millers will work for me.  I had a bad experience with CostCo and disowned them years ago.

With regards to setting up in Lightroom, where are you seeing this?  I must be blind as I'm not finding that.

Thanks again!

If you have an old version, it may not be in it. Newer versions have it where "Library" and "Develop" are in he upper right. Right click on the menu bar beside "Library" to see if it's in your list. You may have turned he icon off and don't remember doing it. If all the icons are on, it's the fourth one called "Book".

(On Windows) Use F5 to show/hide the top menu bar. Ctl-Alt-4 to go to the Book module (as shown under the Window menu item in the menu bar). From there, using the current folder or collection (I suggest using a collection for this) you can assemble your book.

The Book module has been there since at least LR4.

I've also been looking at artisan state. I don't know about now but they just had a deal for 5$ for any book they wanted as a trial of their products.
