Dealing with high humidity

8 years 7 months ago #452422 by Ted Helm
We are in West Palm beach this weekend and it's HUMID.  No sooner do we get out, are we all dripping with sweat and uncomfortable.  There must be a better way of photographing in conditions like this.

Any suggestions?

If you are simply referencing yourself & not your gear, try wearing the newer "fast drying" fabrics instead of cotton.... Just be careful of he Sun as further South you go, the more intense the Sun's rays are.... Wear plenty of sunblock. That said, the best times of day to shoot are closer to sun up & sundown & it's normally not as bad then. My wife has relatives in Ft Lauderdale & I have no issues when we visit them...

Yes, I was referring to myself.  Not so much the gear. I'm going to head out and see if I can find some new threads!

Not much other than wear as much breathable clothes as you can.  All else fail, wake up super early to get the shots  ;)

Have you seen those little fans that you strap onto your belt?

One point about the fabrics I mentioned. You will still sweat, but the sweat will dry out rapidly. I wear the fast dry fabrics when I go to the gym to work out. If I wear a cotton top, it stays wet way longer.

Have you seen those  personal fans that use mount on your belt? That will keep you cool during humid weather.

All in all, humidity doesn't bother so much, it's dry heat that really get's to me personally.
