Photos for your professional portfolio, model release question

Hey guys.  So I was wondering, if you want to add a clients photo that you took to your professional portfolio that won't be published, do you need to get permission from client?

Technically no, but anymore you want everything in writing. So you contract should always have some form of a release in it for you to use the images as you wish. Even though you have the right to use them as you wish non-commercially.

You'll want to have this established upfront with the client.  Make sure they know you will use their images in your portfolio.

I don't believe so, but I do believe it's good practice.  Some clients might be honored with such a gesture.

No, it's not required. The images are yours.

That said, however, I believe that it's polite to acquire permission. Sometimes you have folks that do not want their images seen by anyone else.

Some photographers incorporate permission acquiescence into their contracts.
