What's the best camera for video that would cost less than $1,200?

I'm a Nikon guy and needing a new camera to compliment my D300 that will shoot really good video.  Or the best I can get with budget of $1200.  I mention that I'm currently shooting with a Nikon, however if Canon had a the best camera with video for under my budget, I'd consider.  Just saying.

Thank you PT
