Permit needed for photography business out of country stay?

8 years 3 days ago #475642 by Fiesta!
I'll be heading over to New Zealand in 2 months for a 7 week stay.  I'll be on an assignment for a company here out of the U.S. that has a branch over there.  Do I need any special permits in order to be working in New Zealand?

Or is this short enough time that it doesn't matter?

Contact the New Zealand embassy, or tourism department with that question...they are the ones to ask...

Why so serious?

Could they actually arrest you for doing so?  Would it be the New Zealand or U.S. government that would fine you?

So wait, would it matter if the company is based out of the U.S.?  I thought if you were working in a country for over 6 months is when you would have to file for proper working papers.

I don't know about that one JH as she is technically acting as an agent of that company. IF, and that is a big if, they are shooting strictly on the business property, then maybe not.
Now if they go out into public areas to shoot for the company, it is a whole different matter.
But as someone said contact to consulate on the technicalities. Also your earning for that are only taxable in the US. And if you do end up having to get a work permit, any costs associated with it are tax deductible.

I am based in Australia and I think that NZ has similar laws. You will probably need a working visa otherwise when you arrive if they even get an sense that you might be working they will send you back.

It does not matter how short the stay it is the purpose of your visit. I would check soon as sometimes visa's can take time to process and approve. I would not book your flights until you have the right entry VISA in your Passport.

For tourism it is slightly different and it is often very simple.
