Photographing a pregnant bride

7 years 11 months ago #479875 by CatherineW
I've just picked up a new wedding client, the bride to be is 6 months pregnant.  The wedding is in 2 months    This could be an exciting wedding!

Anyone else photograph a pregnant bride before?  I've done a number of searches for ideas already.  This will be #1 for me.

Feel free to post any ideas.  Thanks!

Yes last year, although the mother to be bride that I photographed was only 4 months pregnant at time of wedding and wasn't showing so much.

I'd just have a discussion with the bride to get a feel for what she wants. Sometimes they want the whole shabang to show, others will want upper body only. Just work with her on what she wants and all will be good!

My son's fiance is pregnant and I can tell you that they are having the photographer take traditional photos without trying to hide the baby bump. She will be about 6 months pregnant at the wedding, so hopefully the photographer can help minimize the weight gain. I have no idea how to do that, but just a thought for you!

What about more environmental type portraits than close ups? Would that help minimize the impression of weight gain? I assume that's what the bride will be most concerned about is looking fat in close up photos. And what about more laid back, candid types of photos instead of the more formal portraits? It might be easier for her to sit down for some laid back shots rather than standing up for formal shots for a long period of time.

Anyway, just a few thoughts from someone that doesn't know much :)  Good luck!
