Handling late payments from clients?

What method of payment are you accepting when a client pays late?    Are you charging an additional % based on contract value or remaining balance?

Nikon D700: 50mm, 14-24mm, 85mm, 105mm 70-200mm, 150-500mm (Sigma), SB-900

Things have changed, me thinks. Way back I NEVER delivered a print package unless it had been entirely paid for. Can't afford those precious pictures, don't hire a photographer......

Why so serious?

:agree:
Exactly!
You get part when booking, or to secure your service, and then part to show up, and the remainder to get images. Today you just need to meet them to review the images in my opinion, or Watermark the hell out of them if you are doing the web handling of packages.

And if all else fails hire some big guy to break bones until payment at a 100% inconvenience fee is paid. :P

Aren't you collecting final due before gig starts?

I used to charge a percentage late fee, then had so many people paying late that I scrapped late fees and went to a strict no payment = no work policy. Sad state of affairs but sheesh, the late payments were too much!
