2nd shooter liability question at wedding gig

7 years 9 months ago #483478 by Soccer Mom
I have a eager to get into wedding photographer who has asked if they can tag along turning my wedding jobs to observe and do what I tell them.  No charge to me.

All the photos would belong to me.  My question is, would I need to get special permission from my insurance company or will they need their own policy?

If they screw up, damage something, or accidentally harm someone... this liability rest on me or them?

If it's under your business name, it's your liability.

I agree, but why wouldn't you ask your insurance carrier to make certain?

Why so serious?

Ask your insurance company. Better safe than sorry.

Your name is on the contract right?  All the above statements are correct.  Speak with your insurance company as they are going to know your policy better than anyone.

Your name, your liability.

Yes, it's as simple as that.  If you are getting paid for the job.  Correction - Paid or not if you were hired or there to do the shoot.  Unless you have a contract that specifically states you are not liable, then your good.  Even then, I'm sure that would have to be one bullet proof contract to hold up in court.
