Filter holder or Gaffer tape?

7 years 9 months ago #489590 by Miss Polly
Can gaffer tape do the job as a filter holder?  As of today, I've meet a couple people who don't use filter holders.  Instead they tape their filters to the front of their lens with gaffers tape.

Does this work?

It might work, but I can put a filter on without moving the gear using a holder (Lee), I can't imagine doing that using tape....

Why so serious?

Nah, just use the filter holder.  Gaffer tape would get old quick.

In case of an emergency, yes I would use the gaffer's tape.  However if I have time and have my filter holder, I'm going to use that.  I can't imagine having to frame up and peel off tape to adjust filter every time.

That would be just a big PITA using gaffers tape.  Stick with the filter holder.

I have a filter holder and honestly can't see using anything else.  Tape would be just an unnecessary mess.

:agree:  pretty much my thoughts on that too.  Those filters holders make it just to easy.  You slide it in and slide it out.  Never any issues.
