Dropped grooms wedding band yesterday!

7 years 8 months ago #490276 by Great Moments
What a weekend.  Yesterday while shooting a wedding I had the both rings on a church bench to photograph that was rich with dark wood grains.  While changing lenses I accidentally knocked my camera bag over, which fell onto the wedding band.  This caused the ring to fall off the bench and roll about 7 feet  before it fell in the ONLY crack in the floor to a subfloor under the churches main floor!!

Nothing could be done yesterday or today.  The churches care taker will be there tomorrow and will find a way to get to the ring.

What a weekend!

Oh no! What a terrible accident. But I hope the couple was understanding as accidents do happen.

I'm sure that had to been a rough conversation letting them know what happened.  Were you able to find the ring?

Thank you for all the comments.  Actually the ring wasn't found till late in the day yesterday.  And yes, it has been very interesting discussions with the bride and groom AND the mother of the bride.  :pinch:

How much did they have to tear apart to find the ring?  I'm sure the couple was thrilled the ring was found.  Crummy luck, however happy all worked out.

I cringed reading about your situation because the same thing almost happened to me last year.  The difference is that I was photographing a wedding on 4 pontoon boats and the ring that my assistant dropped almost fell off the boat into the lake!

My heart leaped!   Oh, and the ring my assistant almost dropped into the lake, wasn't the grooms.  It was one of the bands to the wifes, and it had a ton of diamonds on it.  Yikes!  close call differed!!

I bet you were ready to jump into the lake with your camera after the ring!
