Credit etiquette?

7 years 8 months ago #490869 by Wild Mitch
I have some photos that a buddy of mine has done some post processing too.  Would it be to much to have both credits on the photo, or is that uncommon for joint processed images?

I should clarify, they are my photos, that I touched up, and so did he.

Eh, that might get busy.  I would just keep it to yours.  If you get a magazine spread, then yes, give him credit.

+1 on keeping it simple unless you get some sort of high-profile spread.

I think it depends on the degree of processing your buddy provided. If he did some simple color correction, I think it's kosher to omit his name. But if he did some major altercations, I think it would be best to credit him at the risk of things looking "busy"!

I don't think buyers would like to have a list of credits on the photos.  Perhaps on the back of the shot, but not the front.

Simplify, and process the images yourself.....problem solved.

Why so serious?

Credit on a  photo where?

I don't think I've seen a photo credit given for the photographer and for a person who edited it. If you're going to use a photo other than for personal use I'd think it would be better to do your own editing. If it's for personal use and you're putting it on your own website you can probably title and/or credit it how you want.

If a photo is published I don't think you'd have a say in how it's credited. And you'd have to know how to license usage, learn about contracts, etc. That seems like it's going to get more complicated if someone edits your photos because usually a photographer is licensing usage of their own photos. A publication may have editors that will edit written work and photos.

Personally, I don't care for any sort of branding on photos.  That's my 2 cents.
