@#$@#%^!

I had parked at a national park today and was hiking no more than 90 minutes or so.  I get back to my car and the back window was knocked out.  My iPhone, checkbook, monopod and my 70-200mm were stolen!

@#$^&&*!!

Police report was filed.  What a crappy turn for my weekend!

Break ins, smash & grabs, etc are not rare these days. Even if you hid the lens, you probably got cased.
Sorry to hear....
I hope you have your gear insured....

Why so serious?

I'd imagine national parks are a treasure trove for thieves. I definitely hope your gear was insured.

Terrible just terrible.  I remember back in the 90's when stealing car stereo's was the big thing.

Hope you had insurance on your lens. I never leave anything of value in my car, it always travels with me. That said, was the lens sitting loose ? In plain sight ? Recovery is not likely these days. If you have the serial number notated, you can inform the manufacturer, who will put the fact that it was stolen in their system & if it ever gets submitted for repairs, they will return it to you. Long shot though. My Nephew had a Canon Mark 5D (?) stolen along with his bag while working a job about a year ago in California & has yet to recover it. Thankfully, his gear was insured.

Is your insurance going to cover full value of the lens?

Sorry for your loss. Fingers crossed the police find your things, though I'm sure you know the chances of getting them back are slim to none.

Ugh, that's awful. Definitely a hard lesson to learn, but I think a lot hope there's a stroke of luck and you manage to recover your stuff one way or another (even though it's been a few weeks).
